Who We Are
Workshop2Ensemble is a Latin Jazz nonet composed of professional musicians from the New York metropolitan area, brought together to perform, preserve, and expand the Afro-Caribbean jazz tradition.
The ensemble is led by composer, arranger, and musical director Carlos E. Pozo Jr, whose work reflects a deep engagement with both the historical foundations and contemporary evolution of Latin Jazz.
The group’s repertoire combines original compositions and arrangements with works drawn from the broader Latin Jazz canon, including music influenced by the pioneering innovations of artists such as Dizzy Gillespie, Mario Bauzá, and Tito Puente.
A central artistic focus of the ensemble is the work of Bobby Paunetto, with whom Pozo studied while a Music Major at City College of New York. The project seeks to bring renewed attention to Paunetto’s compositions, many of which remain unrecorded and largely unheard by the general public.
Workshop2Ensemble represents a collaborative effort among experienced musicians committed to artistic excellence and the continued development of Latin Jazz as a living musical tradition.
